Our Story

The idea of trying to lead a more balanced or productive life was inspired about 20 years ago when my life was out of balance which was causing emotional issues with my youngest daughter Ashley who was 11 years old at the time.  I was commuting from Phoenix to Chicago every week for work for 9 months. Ashley would cry uncontrollably every time my wife Monica would take me to the airport on Sunday only to start the dreaded cycle over when I would arrive home late Friday night. I asked myself, what good is a job or Wealth if my daughter’s Spirit is damaged for the rest of her life? I quit that job but had to put my idea on hold for other reasons.

The idea resurfaced 12 years ago when my son Colby facilitated a workshop for our family on creating a Personal Mission Statement. At the time, I had worked 30 years for Corporations which all have Mission and Vision statements but I had never seen or heard of a Personal Mission Statement. This intrigued me. What I created during the exercise was the following: “My Personal Mission is to improve the standard of living of all human beings by showing people how to be productive in the 4 areas of life which are Health, Wealth, Spirit and Fun.”  

I wanted to call my company, I am Productive. I was motivated and inspired to quit my corporate job and start my own company that would help “change the world” into a better place for my children and grandchildren. My wife Monica of 28 years reminded me that we had a family of 5, debt obligations and I had failed miserably at other business ideas presented to me, so I put my idea on hold, again.

When I shared the idea of creating balance by focusing on the 4 sectors of life-Health, Wealth, Spirit and Fun, it resonated with people but my bouts of depression, status quo and past business failures kept me doing my best in my 9-5 corporate job but was this my best self?  I have never thought everyone should be equal but there should be more equity with our resources so everyone in the world could have choices of being their best self and to serve humanity.

When I was 54 years old, I then went on a life changing trip to Bamenda, Cameroon Africa in December 2014 with my son Colby, his wife Mallory and Brian Roth a friend of Colby and a cinematographer. Colby and Mallory had gone 2 ½ years earlier in the summer of 2012 to help Ngalim Franklin, the founder of The Greens in Cameroon Africa, with a service project for 30 days. I wanted to meet these wonderful people who talked about Njangi (the jangi in Jangi4) and to shoot videos for the songs Colby had written and recorded with Awu on his previous trip. I received the honor to stay at the Nfor (the 4 in Jangi4) family’s home for 19 days. Since then, my wife Monica and sister Lollie (Jangi4-Director of Spirit) and her husband Judd have hosted 2 of their sons-Yembe and Alain. Alain now lives in Houston, TX and helped build the Jangi4 website through his company JoinIT solutions.

So how did I convince Monica, now my wife of 38 years, to let me retire so I could follow my dream at 62 years old? First, I told her Henry Kissinger, former Secretary of State under President Nixon, is 98 years old and he is still working on world changing projects. I have another 36 years in me, right? This is just a 2nd career. Second, Monica and I have been living the Jangi4/B100 life of creating generational prosperity with our own children/spouses-6, grandchildren-6 and my siblings-7 for several years, so we know it can work. Third, I was able to convince my sister Lollie to join me as the Director of Spirit at Jangi4 so she could be her best self and help me remain positive on this wonderful new venture. Fourth, we are Debt Free and have enough Wealth. Finally, Monica agreed to keep working as a Nurse Practitioner and Naturopathic Doctor so we could have 1 steady income and health insurance at a reasonable price. These are the types of choices you can make in life when you have Generational Prosperity!  I asked the question, “if not now, when”? The answer was now, so we officially launched JANGI4 January 1, 2022.
